The winter is fast approaching which is the perfect reason to refresh my wardrobe pieces.
With a house move ahead (read all about it here) mixed with an online shopping addiction, my flat has now officially turned into a fashion junkie / hoarder’s dream. Although I’m aware of ways to solve this, from eBay or car boot to a good old blog sale. Somehow this isn’t just enough (plus, I’m terribly impatient!), so I’ve decided to donate a huge chunk of my clothes to charity.
Did you actually know that in the UK alone, 1.7 billion garments bought every year are not even worn once, 10 thousand items of clothing are sent to landfill every 5 minutes, and over 350 thousand tonnes of wearable clothes are destroyed like waste?
I would like to inspire my readers to create a more sustainable wardrobe and rebalance our fashion footprint by donating! If you live in London, check out http://www.traid.org.uk/collections as it’s very easy to book a collection from your own doorstep – a perfect option if you’re very live a busy lifestyle too.
To make my fashion de-cluttering as smooth as possible I’ve established some new rules:
1. Stick to a specific wardrobe colour pallete – mine would be black, white and some neutrals.
2. More basic stuff that could be layered and combined easily.
3. For every new piece, get rid of three – an accessory and two garment pieces.
So, what’s new in my wardrobe? The edgy badge leather jacket from Boohoo styled with a lace crop blouse and a denim dungaree brought from… the summer! Mirrored sunnies, slogan cap, a vintage chocker and velvet mirror heeled boots are perfect additions to my Autumn Winter look.
I’ve linked all the outfit pieces here for you:
And have you guys ever donated in the past and why? I would love to know – let’s discuss in comments.
